Forum on the Future: Part 1

The City of Oregon City invites all Oregon City and South End community members to participate in a Forum on the Future of South End.  Part 1 is scheduled for Saturday, April 13 from 1 to 4pm at McLoughlin Elementary (19230 South End Road).  Community members may arrive at any time and stay as long as they are able.  There will be face painting and other activities for kids and refreshments provided.

The focus of this Forum: Part 1 is future community design concepts.  Three concepts are being developed based on:

  • Land use pattern maps from the February 27 Community Workshop (see below)
  • South End Vision and Values
  • 210 interactive online forum responses
  • Comments from more than 100 participants at the December 13 public meeting
  • Community Conversations with community and civic organizations
  • Online survey responses
  • Stakeholder interviews

The three concepts will be previewed by the Technical Advisory Team (TAT) on the afternoon of Friday, April 12th and by the Community Advisory Team (CAT) in the evening.  All Community Advisory Team meetings are open to the public.  Click on the Meetings link for updated information on CAT meeting dates, times and materials.  TAT and CAT feedback will be incorporated into revised concepts for the Forum.

Those who are unable to attend the Forum will be able to comment on the concepts through an online interactive forum to be launched following the Forum.  The Online Forum will be active for approximately one month.  Comments gathered will be used to develop a preferred concept.

Part 2 of the Forum to discuss the preferred concept is scheduled for Saturday, June 1st

New Frequently Asked Questions (Faqs)

New! Frequently Asked Questions!
As the concept planning process continues for the future of South End, we recently added some Frequently Asked Questions (with Answers!), to the South End Concept Plan website. These questions have been compiled from public meetings, open houses, on the internet and via email.

Here are a few examples:

1. Why are we planning for future development in South End?
3. Why was this area brought into the Urban Growth Boundary?
9. How will new infrastructure be paid for/who will pay?
15. How will property rights be respected as part of this process?

Feel free to browse all of the questions at the following website http://www.southendconceptplan.org/faqs/ .

We’ll be adding to this list as the project rolls along.

Thanks for staying engaged in the planning process, and please let me know if you have any other questions!
